About
Hailing from Galway on the West Coast of Ireland, Jackie Taylor moved to London at the early age of 17, where she undertook a foundation year of Art and Design at Kensington & Chelsea College, London. She then relocated to Berlin to further her studies at the Fashion School at Esmod, Berlin before once more returning to London to work for a time under acclaimed British designer, Giles Deacon.
Since 2009 Jackie has collaborated extensively, from her studio space in Berlin, with many artists, musicians, performers and a host of eccentric characters and clients who seek to amplify their individual style through somewhat fantastical concepts, expressive tailoring and structures. These bespoke, commissioned pieces represent her aspirations as a designer in formulating the distinctive Jackie Taylor brand.
One area of her work has been aligned with her passion and appreciation for Music and has involved working with and styling such artists and musicians as Azari & III, Peaches, Art Department, Aquarius Heaven, Maxxi Soundsystem, Jessie Evans and Soul Clap for Music Videos, Photo Shoots and Live Performances alike.
As well as her solo work on such high profile events as the 10 year anniversary of French music festival Calvi on the Rocks (Corsica), Jackie’s previous collaborations have included Berlin Festival (Berlin), Bermuda Festival (Berlin) and events for nightclub and record label Watergate (Berlin) as well as many other events based in/around Berlin’s clubbing scene. During a period between 2010 and 2011 Jackie collaborared with Berlin-based collective “Crystalmafia”, where she conceived various original concepts and costumes for both music videos and photo shoots undertaken by herself and the collective during the period of their collaboration.
Since Winter 2011 Jackie Taylor has worked alone and has seen her iconic brand grow to embrace various aspects of Art, Design, Music and Fashion in her Design and Styling portfolio from Music Video, Photo Shoots, Advertising Campaigns, Music Festivals and Fashion Runway Shows to creating bespoke Headpieces and Couture Garments for Private Clients.
In the Winter of 2011 Jackie Taylor was invited by the Berlin and London based creative collective “somethinkmotion” to style music videos including the Maxxi Soundsystem video “Make or Break”, in which Jackie also stars.
After a period of travel to the world famous Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, in early 2012 Jackie was invited to participate in and style members of the first official Saint Patricks Day Festival to be held in Berlin on March 17th 2012.
In Spring 2012 Jackie returned to London for a period where she assisted London-based stylist, Nova Dando, for an international commercial shoot by Big Fish Productions, Berlin for Vodafone Ireland organised and shot between Berlin and London. During this time Jackie was approached by London-based stylist Zoe Bedeaux to contribute one of her bespoke Headpieces towards a Fashion Shoot for Tank Magazine.
Jackie then returned to her Berlin base to prepare for commissioned work at a week long Jackie Taylor installation and styling job involving a creative team of 5 (Performers/Actors/Musicians/Set Designers/Fashion Designers and Stlyists) to mark the 10 year Anniversary of the Calvi on the Rocks Music Festival in Corsica, France. The installation involved Set Design, Performance Art and Individual Stylist Work, while working with MAC make-up professionals to generate a sense of Crowd Participation, Interaction and Styling at a Purpose-Built area of this boutique music festival.
In June 2012 Jackie Taylors work was exhibited for Berlin Fashion Week at the WYE Gallery and at Sameheads Berlin as well as being featured in the official Ricardo Ramos Runway Show during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, Spring/Summer 2013.
Her recent work has appeared in such publications and websites as Grazia, ALL, Jezebel Magazine, Manhattan Fashion Magazine and French Vogue.
